Garbage Day! – Life is Round
Garbage Day!

Garbage Day!

Tuesdays and Fridays, that’s when the garbage gets picked up. Like clockwork! We seldom worry about having to hold onto a bin of old smelly garbage. Wouldn’t it be great if we also had a schedule for relieving ourselves of the garbage we hang onto? If only we didn’t have to think about it; we’d go to bed on Monday night and awaken Tuesday morning feeling refreshed and free of all the grunge that we hauled around all weekend.

It’s inevitable that we collect garbage through living. Some of us are struggling under the weight of it, the anger, hurt, regrets, perceptions of what others think, fear, memories and more. We never let them go, even though thinking and reliving each piece of trash does nothing good, changes nothing and continues to sit inside us and rot slowly. This poison is beyond smell. It seeps into our reality and distorts who we are and why we live. It has nowhere to go but deeper.

This morning I had a memory of what someone I’m very close friends with said to me a while back, and how much it hurt. However, the second I felt the emotion reviving itself I threw it back in disgust. That wasn’t a reflex action, it was me finally beginning to take control of how much garbage I keep. Why would I go back there over and over to relive that moment? It does nothing for me and it doesn’t change what happened. It was dealt with, and we have moved forward.

The point is, we should practice throwing the garbage out. Many things are out of our control and because we are alive and living, we must be discerning of the garbage, and we need to get rid of it regularly. If practiced, and if we remain vigilant soon it can become a reflex action. We can see it coming like a fast tennis ball and without a second thought it can be an Ace!

Remember to take your garbage out on a regular basis.
